Yale Secures 2027 Verbal Pledge From Junior National Qualifier Fin McLane
NEW COMMIT: Kensington, New Hampshire native Fin McLane has announced his verbal commitment* to Yale University beginning in Fall 2027. McLane is a Junior National qualifier specializing in breaststroke and IM.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I’m extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to the admissions process at Yale University! Thank you to my family, friends, and all of my coaches at Commonwealth and Exeter for supporting me throughout this process. I also want to thank Coach Kyle, Joey, Jim, and Dana for this opportunity. Go Bulldogs!!”
McLane trains year-round with Commonwealth Swimming and had four top-10 finishes at Four Corners Speedo Sectionals in March. He competed at four events at Juniors East in December before going on to earn silver in the 100 breast, 200 IM and 400 IM at New England Seniors a week later. Last summer, he finaled in the 400m IM at Junior Nationals.
His best times include:
- 100 breast – 54.30
- 200 breast – 2:01.39
- 200 IM – 1:48.67
- 400 IM – 3:54.08
Currently a junior at Phillips Exeter Academy, McLane won the 100 breast and 200 IM at the 2026 NEPSAC Division I Championship after taking second and third, respectively, in those events at the 2026 Eastern Interscholastic Swimming Championship.
Yale finished eighth at the 2026 Ivy League Championships. McLane’s top time in the 100 breast would’ve scored in the B-final at the conference meet while he would’ve scored in the C-final of the 200 breast and 400 IM.
