Wisconsin Lands First 2028 Verbal From Chicago’s Addy Koenig-Song
NEW COMMIT: The University of Wisconsin has earned its first public verbal commitment for Fall 2028 from Chicago, Ill. native Addy Koenig-Song. Koenig-Song is a Junior National qualifier.
She’ll have a Big Ten rival in her twin sister, Grace Koenig-Song, who verbally committed to Northwestern.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am super honored and excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the University of Wisconsin-Madison!! I would first like to say a huge thank you to my parents for the countless sacrifices they have made for me throughout this journey, and to my sister for always being by my side. I also want to thank all of my friends, my past and present teammates, and Coach Alessio, along with all my other club coaches, for supporting me and helping me become the swimmer and person I am today. Finally, a HUGE thank you to Coaches Jack, Beata, Jennah, and the entire Wisconsin coaching staff for their support throughout this process and for giving me this awesome opportunity. Incredibly excited for this next chapter and to call Wisconsin home! GO BADGERS!”
Koenig-Song, who trains year-round with NASA Wildcat Aquatics, most recently competed at Junior Nationals this past summer. She had a fantastic meet at NCSA Spring Championships back in March where she finaled in five events – highlighted by a 23rd-place finish in the 100 free – and earned three best times.
Her best times include:
- 50 fly – 25.13
- 100 fly – 54.90
- 50 free – 23.66
- 100 free – 51.10
- 200 free – 1:50.58
- 100 back – 56.39
Wisconsin finished fourth at the 2026 Big Ten Championships and 13th at the 2026 NCAA Championships. Koenig-Song’s best time in the 50 fly would’ve been fourth on the Badgers’ roster last year.
