Virginia Adds Pennsylvania State Champion Grant Fleming to Class of 2027

NEW COMMIT: West Chester, Pennsylvania native Grant Fleming has announced his intention to continue his academic and swimming career at the University of Virginia beginning in Fall 2027. Fleming is a Junior National qualifier who specializes in backstroke.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am super excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic careers at the University of Virginia! I would like to thank my family, friends, coaches, and teammates who have supported me through this process. Special thanks to Coach Todd, Coach Tyler, and the UVA staff for giving me this opportunity. GO HOOS”

Fleming, who trains year-round with Surban Seahawks Club, most recently competed at NCSA Spring Championships where he collected bronze in the 100 back, also placing 10th in both the 50 back and 100 fly. He won the 100 back at the NCAP Katie Ledecky Invitational in December and finaled in five events at NCSA Summer Championships last long course season.

His best times include:

  • 100 back – 47.24
  • 200 back – 1:47.94
  • 100 fly – 47.75

Currently a junior at Unionville High School, Fleming won the 100 back and was the 100 fly runner-up at the Pennsylvania 3A State Championships. He took sixth in the 100 back and fourth in the 200 IM at the state meet during his sophomore season. He has earned NISCA All-American honors.

Virginia placed seventh at the 2026 Atlantic Coast Conference Championships before going on to take ninth at the 2026 NCAA Championships.
