Vanderbilt Scores 2027 Verbal Pledge From Peru National Teamer Ariel Kong
NEW COMMIT: Vanderbilt University has picked up a new verbal commitment for Fall 2027 from Ariel Kong out of Waxhaw, North Carolina. Kong is a Junior National qualifier specializing in distance events.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Vanderbilt University!! Thank you to my family, friends, teammates, and coaches who have been a part of this incredible journey. I also want to thank Coach Jeremy, Coach Chelsea, and Coach Bella for this amazing opportunity. ANCHOR DOWN”
Internationally, Kong represents Peru and competed at the FINA World Junior Championships in August 2025 where her best finish was a 22nd-place showing in the 800m free.
Kong does her club swimming with SwimMAC Carolina and competed at Juniors East in December where she earned three best times. She finished 13th in the 800m free and 18th in the 400m IM at Toyota U.S. Open back in November, too. Last summer, Kong raced to 15th place in the 1500m free at Junior Nationals.
Her best times include:
- 200 free – 1:52.68
- 500 free – 4:55.88
- 1000 free – 10:11.32
- 1650 free – 16:57.05
- 200 fly – 2:02.70
- 400 IM – 4:26.76
Currently a junior at Marvin Ridge High School, Kong finished fifth in the 500 free at the 2024 North Carolina 4A State Championships during her freshman season.
