U.S. National Junior Team Sprinter Avery Daigle Chooses Indiana For 2028-29
NEW COMMIT: Indiana University has added a verbal commitment from Avery Daigle of Mandeville, La., for Fall 2028. Daigle, a member of the U.S. National Junior Team, is an accomplished sprinter and one of the top swimmers in her class.
She will join Thea Bike in Bloomington as a member of the Hoosiers’ Class of 2032.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at Indiana University!! I want to thank my family, my coaches, and everyone who has supported me along the way. I am especially thankful for all the help I have received from my first coach (Dad) and Coach Robby. Huge thanks to Coach Ray, Coach John, and the entire Indiana coaching staff for this incredible opportunity! I can’t wait to be a Hoosier!”
Daigle does her club swimming with Franco’s Fins. She most recently competed at USA Swimming National Championships where she placed 22nd in the 50m fly. She won the 50m and 100m fly at Louisiana Long Course Seniors in July, also taking second in the 50m free, 50m back and 100m back.
In December, Daigle was the runner-up in the 50 free at Juniors West and won the B-final of the 100 free. She then won five gold medals at Louisiana Short Course Seniors in February, and she won the 50 free, 50 back and 100 back at Justin Speedo Sectionals in March.
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 22.21 (21.63 relay split)
- 100 free – 48.94
- 200 free – 1:49.20
- 100 fly – 53.57
- 50 back – 24.69
- 100 back – 53.79
- 200 back – 2:00.47
- 200 IM – 2:01.72
Currently a junior at Mandeville High School, Daigle won the 100 fly and 100 back at the 2025 Louisiana Division I State Championships, also swimming on the winning 4×50 medley relay. She won the 100 free and 200 free at the state meet as a freshman in 2024. She has earned USA Swimming Scholastic and NISCA All-American honors.
Indiana finished second at the 2026 Big Ten Championships and seventh at the 2026 NCAA Championships. Daigle’s best times in the 50 free, 100 free and 100 back are already fast enough to score in the C-final at the conference meet.
