Texas 6A Runner-Up Jonah Ruhl Selects Indiana For 2027
NEW COMMIT: Indiana University has picked up another verbal commitment for Fall 2027, this time from Jonah Ruhl out of Irving, Texas. Ruhl is a Junior National qualifier who excels in freestyle and IM.
He will join Andrew Malaj in Bloomington as a member of the Hoosiers’ Class of 2031.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I’m extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Indiana University! I would like to thank God, my family, Coach Coley, my teammates, and every coach along the way who has helped me get to where I am today. I would also like to thank Coach Ray and Coach John and the rest of the Indiana coaching staff for giving me this incredible opportunity. Go Hoosiers!”
Ruhl does his club swimming with Texas Ford Aquatics and most recently competed at the Westmont TYR Pro Swim Series where he recorded three best times and placed 20th in the 200m IM. Last summer, he earned bronze in the 200m IM at Justin Futures while also taking fifth in the 100m free and 11th in the 200m free.
His best times include:
- 50 free – 20.34
- 100 free – 44.58
- 200 free – 1:38.28
- 500 free – 4:35.68
- 1650 free – 16:14.84
- 200 IM – 1:48.44
- 400 IM – 3:58.90
- 100 breast – 56.45
Currently a junior at Jesuit College Prep in Dallas, Ruhl was the 100 free runner-up at the 2026 UIL 6A State Championships while also taking fourth in the 200 IM. He took 16th and 13th, respectively, in those events at the state meet during his sophomore season. He is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American.
Ruhl will join a Hoosier Swimming and Diving program that has won six national championships, 37 Big Ten team titles and 551 Big Ten individual titles in addition to producing 111 Olympians and 1596 All-America honorees.
