Sprinter Lizzy Johnson Gives In-State FSU Seminoles First 2028 Verbal Commitment
NEW COMMIT: Florida State University has earned its first public verbal commitment for Fall 2028 from in-state standout Lizzy Johnson of Windermere, Fla. Johnson is a Junior National qualifier who excels in sprint freestyle.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am overjoyed to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Florida State University!! I am incredibly grateful for Goller, coach Ali, all my amazing friends, Cynthia, and my family for supporting me through this journey! I would also like to thank coach Kyle, Coach Ben, and coach Neal for giving me the opportunity to make a life long dream become a reality. I am so beyond excited for what the future holds and cannot wait to get started in Tally. GO NOLES!”
Johnson, who does her club swimming with LAKR Swim Club, most recently competed at Knoxville Futures where she placed 23rd in the 100m free and 24th in the 50m free. That was after she took fourth in the 50m free at Florida Long Course Seniors. Back in March, she had six top-10 finishes at Florida Short Course Seniors, highlighted by a bronze medal in the 50 free.
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 23.17
- 100 free – 50.31
- 200 free – 1:49.61
- 50 fly – 25.85
- 100 fly – 55.83
Currently a junior at Windermere High School, Johnson took fourth in the 100 free and sixth in the 200 free at the 2025 Florida 4A State Championships while helping her 4×100 free relay win the state title. The NISCA All-American finished fourth in the 50 free and won the 4×50 free relay and 4×100 free relay at the state meet as a freshman in 2024.
Florida State finished 10th at the 2026 Atlantic Coast Conference Championships. Johnson’s best time in the 50 free and 200 free would’ve ranked fifth on the Seminoles’ lineup last year.
