Serena Dickey Lends 2027 Verbal to Illinois With Team-Leading 200 Fly Time
NEW COMMIT: The University of Illinois has added a verbal commitment for the 2027-28 season and beyond from Junior National qualifier Serena Dickey out of Mountain Lakes, New Jersey. Dickey specializes in butterfly and freestyle.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am so excited and blessed to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Illinois!! I am beyond grateful for my family, coaches at LHY, and friends who have supported me every step of the way. I would also like to say a special thank you to Coach Jeana, Kyle, and Jerod for giving me this amazing opportunity. Can’t wait for what’s next! GO ILLINI”
Dickey, who trains year round with Lakeland Hills Family YMCA, placed 24th in the 200 fly at Juniors East back in December. Last summer, she won the 200m fly at YMCA Long Course Nationals where she also took third in the 400m IM and 200m free as well as fourth in the 400m free.
Her best times include:
- 100 fly – 55.36
- 200 fly – 2:00.74
- 200 IM –2:02.88
- 400 IM – 4:20.98
- 100 free – 51.56
- 200 free – 1:51.58
- 500 free – 4:57.17
Currently a junior at Mountain Lakes High School, Dickey recently finished third in the 200 IM and fourth in the 100 fly at the 2026 New Jersey Meet of Championships. She is a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American.
Dickey is a great pickup for the Fighting Illini as her top 200 fly time would already be the fastest on their roster.
