The first day of racing at the 2016 Eastern Interscholastic Swimming and Diving Championships is in the books with Peddie School closing out the night with a meet record in the 200 Freestyle Relay. The record stood since 1992. The relay team of Nathan Stern (21.07), Michael Blank (19.89), Joe Black(20.94), and Jared Fitzgerald (20.71) posted a final time of 1:22.61 for the new record.
Swimming World Publisher, Brent Rutemiller caught up with to talk about their accomplishment. Watch the interview now.
Ala Viva!!
Rocco Mia Olore Aceto!
There were 4 of them.
Ala Viva!
(and with two sophomores on the relay!)
Let’s show some more respect for the former record holders, our friends from Mercersburg:
1:22.70 – 2/21/1992 – Mercersburg Academy – Brian Craft, Zack Gipson, Geri Mewett, Greg Gipson
It was a national record at the time, and it was around the time the 200 freestyle relay was introduced in high school competition.
oh wow, three sophs and a junior!
(by the way it was 9/100ths, not 9/10ths)
Congrats Peddie! Didn’t think that one would stand for so long. I hope they crush it again next year!
