NEW COMMIT: Northwestern University has picked up their fourth verbal commitment for the 2022-23 season and beyond from Junior National qualifier Lindsay Ervin of Irvine, Calif.

She will join Hana Shimizu-Bowers, Mackenzie Lanning and Riley Huddleston as a member of the Wildcats’ Class of 2026.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I’m so thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at Northwestern University! Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way especially my family, friends, and coaches! GO ‘CATS 💜

A talented sprinter, Ervin does her club swimming with Irvine Novaquatics and raced the 50m/100m free at the Toyota U.S. Open in November and won the B-final of the 50 free at Juniors West in December 2019.

In Summer 2019, she grabbed gold in both the 50m free and 100m back at the MVN Junior Olympics before going on to take 22nd overall in the 50m free.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 22.84
  • 100 free – 50.42
  • 200 free – 1:49.63
  • 500 free – 4:59.49
  • 100 back – 57.19
  • 200 IM – 2:07.25

Currently a junior at Santa Margarita Catholic High School, Ervin placed fourth in the 50 free at the CIF State Championships as a freshman. The week prior, she sprinted to second in the 50 free and fourth in the 100 free at the CIF Southern DI Section Championships.

She has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for her efforts in the pool and in the classroom.

Ervin will add valuable sprint depth both individually and on relays when she arrives on campus in the fall of 2022. She would’ve scored in the C-final of the 50 free at the 2020 Big Ten Championships where the Wildcats finished fourth overall in the team standings.

Katie Robinson is currently in her first season as Northwestern’s head coach.
