National Age Group Record Holder Shareef Elaydi Verbals to Texas for 2027
NEW COMMIT: One of the top recruits in his class, Shareef Elaydi has announced his verbal commitment to the University of Texas for Fall 2027. Elaydi of Santa Clara, Calif., is a National Age Group record holder.
Regarding his commitment, he said:

Elaydi, who trains year-round with Santa Clara Swim Club, owns the boys’ 13-14 NAG record in the 200m IM with a time of 2:03.73 set in March 2024. He raced the 200m fly at the 2025 World Aquatics Junior Championships.
He most recently competed at the USA Swimming National Championships where he placed 24th in the 200m breast. He won the 200 IM, earned bronze in the 100 breast and 200 fly, and placed fifth in the 100 fly at Juniors West back in December. He then went on to win the 100 breast and 200 breast at Roseville Speedo Sectionals in February.
His best times include:
- 100 breast – 51.85
- 200 breast – 1:55.12
- 100 fly – 46.78
- 200 fly – 1:42.80
- 200 IM – 1:43.82
Elaydi is now a senior at Archbishop Mitty High School. He won the 100 breast and was the runner-up in the 200 IM at the CIF State Championships in both 2025 and 2026. In 2026, he set a new meet record in the 100 breast with a lifetime best of 51.85 and also earned silver in the 4×50 medley relay and bronze in the 4×50 free relay.
The Longhorns have won back-to-back NCAA Championship titles.
