Louisville Lands 2028 Verbal From Junior National 50 Fly Runner-Up Peyton McDaniel

NEW COMMIT: The University of Louisville has picked up another verbal commitment for Fall 2028, this time from Peyton McDaniel of Mount Vernon, Ind. McDaniel is a Junior National qualifier who excels in butterfly and sprint freestyle.

She will join Kaylee Richmond in Louisville as a member of the Cardinals’ Class of 2032.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am so excited and blessed to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Louisville! I first want to thank God, because without him none of this would be possible. I also want to thank my family, friends, and coaches who have supported me through everything. Lastly, thank you to Coach Arthur, Stephanie, and all of the other Louisville staff. I can’t wait to see what happens next! Go Cards!!! 🔴⚫️”

McDaniel, who does her club swimming with Mount Vernon Swim Team, was the runner-up in the 50m fly at Junior Nationals this past summer where she also placed 11th in the 100m fly, 14th in the 100m fly and 17th in both the 50m free and 200m fly. That was after she earned best times in all her events at Indiana Long Course Seniors, winning the 50m free, 100m free, 200m free and 50m fly while taking second in the 100m fly and 200m fly.

Last winter, McDaniel raced three events at Juniors East before going on to have a fantastic showing at Indiana Short Course Seniors. There, she achieved five new best times, collected gold in the 50 fly, 100 fly and 100 free and placed third in the 50 breast and 50 free.

Her best times include:

  • 50 fly – 24.30
  • 100 fly – 53.56
  • 200 fly – 2:02.27
  • 50 free – 22.98
  • 100 free – 49.98
  • 50 breast – 28.94

Currently a junior at Mount Vernon High School, McDaniel placed third in the 50 free and ninth in the 100 fly at the 2026 Indiana State Championships. She raced to sixth in the 100 fly and ninth in the 50 free at the state meet as a freshman in 2025.

Louisville placed fourth at the 2026 Atlantic Coast Conference Championships and eighth at the 2026 NCAA Championships. The Cardinals have placed in the top eight at NCAAs for five consecutive seasons under head coach Arthur Albiero.

McDaniel’s top time in the 100 fly would’ve ranked fourth on UofL’s lineup last season.
