NEW COMMIT: Rice University has picked up a verbal commitment for Fall 2027 from Liliana “Lily” Hineman out of Peoria, Arizona. Hineman is a Junior National qualifier who specializes in distance freestyle.
Regarding her commitment, she said:

I would like to thank God, my family, Coach Sam, Coach Mike, and all my teammates and friends for their support and helping me get to where I am today. I would also like to give a heartfelt thank you to my former coach Bob who was the biggest inspiration for me in and out of the pool. I would also like to thank Coach Seth, Coach Jessica, and Coach Guy for giving me this amazing opportunity! I cannot wait for the amazing journey ahead! GO OWLS!!!”
Hineman trains year-round with Gold Medal Swim Club. She competed at Juniors West back in December and posted five top-8 finishes at Arizona Short Course Seniors last month where she won the 1000 free. Last summer, she finaled in four events at Arizona Long Course Seniors before going on to notch a best time in the 1500m free at Mount Hood Sectionals.
Her best times include:
- 200 free – 1:52.87
- 500 free – 4:51.95
- 1000 free – 9:56.11
- 1650 free – 16:44.31
- 400 IM – 4:17.50
Currently a junior at Notre Dame Preparatory High School, Hineman won the 100 back and 200 IM at the 2024 Arizona Division III State Championships during her freshman season while also earning silver in the 4×50 medley relay and bronze in the 4×100 free relay.
Under head coach Seth Hutson, the Owls claimed their second straight American Conference championship title in 2026, securing back-to-back crowns for the second time in school history. Hutson was named the conference’s Coach of the Year.
Hineman would’ve scored in the A-final of the 400 IM and 500 free at the 2026 American Conference Championship. She also would’ve placed fourth in the mile.
