Junior National 100 Back Champ Maggie Dickinson to Join Sister at Indiana in 2028
NEW COMMIT: Indiana University has picked up yet another impressive verbal commitment for Fall 2028, this time from Maggie Dickinson of Milwaukee, Wis. Dickinson is a member of the 2026-27 U.S. National Junior Team in the 100 free and 100 back.
She will join Salem Bahr, Kinley Baber, Clare Herfel, Avery Daigle and Thea Bike in Bloomington as a member of the Hoosiers’ Class of 2032.
Dickinson’s older sister, Anne Dickinson, is currently a freshman swimmer at IU.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am so excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Indiana University!!! IU has felt like family and I am honored to be able to join my sister in 2 years. Thank you Ray, Dana, and the IU coaches who have given me the chance to be a part of something special! Finally, this would not have been possible without my family, friends, teammates and coaches. Thanks to Chandler, Dave, Caleb, Cass, Greg and Tracy and all at SSTY for all of your hard work to get me here. GO HOOSIERS!”
Dickinson, who does her club swimming with Schroeder Swim Team YMCA, won the 100m back and took second in the 50m back at Junior Nationals this past summer. That was after she placed 19th in the 50m back, 20th in the 100m back, and 21st in the 100m free and 200m back at USA Swimming Nationals.
Last winter, Dickinson earned silver in the 200 back and bronze in the 100 back at Juniors West before going on to win the 100 back, 100 free and 200 back at YMCA Short Course Nationals.
Her best times include:
- 200 back – 1:53.40
- 100 back – 52.56
- 50 back – 24.50
- 100 free – 49.17
- 50 free – 22.65
- 100 fly – 55.29
Currently a junior Whitefish Bay High School, Dickinson won the 50 free and 100 back at the 2025 Wisconsin Division II State Championships, also leading off the winning 4×50 medley relay and anchoring the winning 4×100 free relay. She also won the 50 free and 100 back as a freshman in 2024. The NISCA All-American owns the state record in the 100 back (53.28).
Indiana finished second at the 2026 Big Ten Championships and seventh at the 2026 NCAA Championships.
Dickinson’s best time in the 200 back is already fast enough to have scored in the A-final of last year’s conference championships as well as in the B-final of the 100 back.
