Iowa Secures 2027 Verbal Commitment From Junior National Qualifier Morgan Thompson
NEW COMMIT: The University of Iowa has picked up a verbal commitment for the 2027-28 season and beyond from Morgan Thompson of Osseo, Minnesota. Thompson is a versatile swimmer who excels in the 200 and 400 IM.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Iowa! Thank you Coach Nate, Coach Mona, and Coach Megan for giving me this opportunity! Big thank you to my family, friends, and Aquajets for supporting and helping me through this process! Go hawks!!”
Thompson, who does her club swimming with Aquajets Swim Team, most recently competed at NCSA Spring Championships where she finaled in three events and earned a trio of lifetime bests. She competed at Juniors West in December and placed eighth in the 400m IM at Minneapolis Speedo Sectionals last summer.
Her best times include:
- 200 IM – 2:01.97
- 400 IM – 4:19.45
- 100 free – 51.30
- 200 free – 1:52.37
- 50 breast – 29.87
- 100 breast – 1:03.95
- 100 back – 56.21
Currently a junior at Maple Grove Senior High School, Thompson competed at the Minnesota Class 2A State Championships in 2023 as a freshman, taking 16th in the 100 free and helping her 4×50 medley relay earn bronze.
Thompson’s top time in the 200 IM and 400 IM would’ve been the second fastest on Iowa’s roster last season. The Hawkeyes placed 12th at the 2026 Big Ten Championships.
