Georgia Tech Earns First 2028 Verbal From YMCA National Champion Vicky Sluk

NEW COMMIT: Georgia Tech has received its first public verbal commitment for Fall 2028 from Vicky Sluk of Verona, N.J. Sluk is a Junior National qualifier who excels in backstroke.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue both my academic and athletic career at Georgia Tech! First, I would like to thank my parents, family, friends, and teammates for their support throughout the years. To my LHY coaches, Matt, Sean, and Aidan, thank you for helping me become the swimmer I am today. A special thank you to Coach Roman for inspiring my love for the sport. Lastly, a huge thank you to Coach Iago and Coach Miles for your support throughout this process and for giving me this incredible opportunity. Go Jackets!”

Sluk trains year-round with Lakeland Hills Family YMCA and raced three events at Junior Nationals last month after winning the 200m back at YMCA Long Course Nationals where she also took fifth in the 100m back and eighth in the 50m fly. She earned bronze in the 200 back and won the 100 back B-final at YMCA Short Course Nationals in April.

Her best times include:

  • 50 back – 26.08
  • 100 back – 54.69
  • 200 back – 1:57.08
  • 100 free – 52.96
  • 200 free – 1:51.54

Currently a junior at Verona High School, Sluk was the 100 back runner-up at the 2026 New Jersey Meet of Champions.

Sluk is a great pickup for the Yellow Jackets, as her best time in the 200 back would’ve ranked second on their roster last year while her 100 back best time would’ve been fourth.

Georgia Tech finished 13th in the team standings at the 2026 Atlantic Coast Conference Championships.
