Futures Champion Madi King Hands Auburn First 2028 Verbal Commitment
NEW COMMIT: Auburn University has received its first public verbal commitment for Fall 2028 from Madi King of Lake Forest, Ill. King is a Junior National qualifier who excels in breaststroke and IM.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to Auburn University to continue my academic and athletic career! I would like to give a huge thank you to Coach Ryan, Coach Vlad, and the entire coaching staff at Auburn for giving me this amazing opportunity! A very special thank you to Coach Michael and Coach Laurel at Lake Forest Swim Club for shaping me into the swimmer I am today in order to have this experience!!! 🦅🦅WAR EAGLE”
King, who trains year-round with Lake Forest Swim Club, most recently competed at Madison Futures where she won the 200m breast and 200m IM in addition to placing second in the 400m IM and fourth in the 100m breast. She also earned silver in the 100m breast and bronze in the 50m breast at Westmont Speedo Sectionals in July.
Last winter, King won the 200 fly at West Fargo Speedo Sectionals where she also took third in the 400 IM, fourth in the 200 breast and ninth in the 200 IM.
Her best times include:
- 50 breast – 28.70
- 100 breast – 1:02.29
- 200 breast – 2:13.51
- 200 IM – 2:04.78
- 400 IM – 4:21.04
- 200 fly – 2:02.52
Auburn placed seventh at the 2026 Southeastern Conference Championships. King’s best time in the 200 breast would’ve ranked fifth on the Tigers’ lineup last season.
