Daniel Roy has been in competition with newly crowned National title winner Reece Whitley for several years now, so it was no surprise that the two held a tight race on night two to finish first and second at the 2019 Phillips 66 U.S. National Championships.
Later that night, when he met with the media, Roy mentioned that he had been playing around with different race strategies. One of the goals that he and his coach have is for him to break that 2:09/2:10 barrier and so he wants to push past that.
Roy also mentioned that he wants to be a competitive elite breaststroker and he knows that that means he needs to be more aggressive with his race strategies.
