Brooke DeMarco, Annabelle Hoover Hand 2028 Verbal Commitments to Pitt

NEW COMMIT: The University of Pittsburgh has recently received two verbal commitments for Fall 2028 from Corona, Calif. native Brooke DeMarco and Annabelle Hoover of Scituate, Mass.

Both swimmers will arrive on campus as members of the Panthers’ Class of 2032.

Brooke DeMarco

DeMarco does her club swimming with Riverside Aquatics Association and finished sixth in both the 100m breast and 200m breast as well as eighth in the 50m breast at Sacramento Futures this past summer. That was after she earned silver in the 100m breast at Walnut Speedo Sectionals. Last winter, she placed 24th in the 200 breast at Juniors West before a pair of top-10 finishes at Oceanside Speedo Sectionals.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I’m beyond excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Pittsburgh!!! I’m incredibly grateful for this amazing opportunity and everyone who has been there for me along the way. I first want to thank my amazing parents and Coach Rodney for always being there for me, and believing in me when sometimes I don’t fully believe in myself. And to all of my teammates and family at RAA, I wouldn’t be here without all of you. And finally, I want to thank Coach Ian, Coach Austin, and the entire Pitt staff and team, I am so thrilled and honored for this incredible opportunity!! I can’t wait to continue my journey as part of the Panther family! Hail to Pitt!!!”

Her best times include:

  • 50 breast – 29.54
  • 100 breast – 1:02.81
  • 200 breast – 2:16.28
  • 200 IM – 2:08.58

Currently a junior at Santiago High School, DeMarco placed 12th in the 100 breast at the 2026 CIF State Championships. She has earned USA Swimming and NISCA All-American honors.

Annabelle Hoover

Hoover trains year-round with Commonwealth Swimming and finaled in five events at Greensboro Futures this past summer, highlighted by a 10th-place showing in the 100m back. Two weeks prior, she took fourth in the 100m back, 200m back, 200m IM and 400m IM at New England Long Course Seniors.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am thrilled and honored to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the University of Pittsburgh!! Above all, I’d like to thank God for the immense blessing and guidance He has provided for me during this process. All glory to Him for placing this incredible opportunity in my path. I want to thank my parents for all their support and sacrifices. Along with my siblings, Charlie and Gerhardt for being my role models. Thank you to Coach Chris who has taught me what it means to work hard in order to accomplish your goals. As well as my teammates who have supported me every step of the way!! Finally, a special thanks to Coach Ian and the rest of the Pitt coaching staff for giving me this incredible opportunity!! GO PANTHERS!”

  • 50 back – 26.20
  • 100 back – 55.58
  • 200 back – 1:59.49
  • 200 IM – 2:04.45
  • 400 IM – 4:23.59

Hoover earned bronze in the 50 back and 200 back at New England Short Course Seniors last December. She then raced to fifth in the 100 back and 200 back at Four Corner Speedo Sectionals in March.

Pitt placed sixth at the 2026 Atlantic Coast Conference Championships, its highest finish in program history. The Panthers broke 19 school records at the conference meet. Claire Jansen earned bronze in the 200 back, becoming the third woman in program history to earn an ACC Championship medal.
