Breaststroker Ashlyn Anderson Lends 2027 Verbal to Rice
NEW COMMIT: Rice University has scored a new in-state verbal commitment for the 2027-28 season and beyond from Ashlyn Anderson of Keller, Texas. Anderson is a Junior National qualifier who excels in breaststroke.
She will join Lily Hineman in Houston as a member of the Owls’ Class of 2031.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am so grateful to announce my commitment to continuing my academic and athletic career at Rice University!!! I want to thank God, my family, coaches, and everyone who has supported me along the way. I also want to thank Coach Seth, Coach Jessica, and Coach Guy for believing in me and giving me this amazing opportunity. GO OWLS!!”
Anderson does her club swimming with Lakeside Aquatic Club and most recently competed at Junior Nationals where she finaled in the 50m breast and 200m breast. She finished 23rd in the 100 breast at Juniors West back in December before going on to earn bronze in that event at Justin Speedo Sectionals in March.
Her best times include:
- 50 breast – 29.46
- 100 breast – 1:02.56
- 200 breast – 2:17.70
Now a senior at Keller High School, Anderson took sixth in the 100 breast at the 2026 Texas UIL 6A State Championships after placing eighth in that event in 2025. She has earned NISCA Academic All-American honors, too.
Under head coach Seth Hutson, the Owls claimed their second straight American Conference championship title in 2026, securing back-to-back crowns for the second time in school history. Hutson was named the conference’s Coach of the Year.
