Army West Point Adds Futures Qualifier Kalyn O’Hara To Class of 2031
NEW COMMIT: Futures qualifier Kalyn O’Hara of Annandale, Virginia, has announced her verbal commitment to the United States Military Academy at West Point and will arrive on campus in Fall 2027.
She will join Jordyn Kendler and Amelie Meyer as a member of the Black Knights’ Class of 2031.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the United States Military Academy at West Point! I am so grateful for my family, friends, and coaches for supporting me through this process. I want to give a huge thank you to Coach Megan, Coach Kelly, and all the rest of the Army coaching staff for giving me this opportunity! And as always, GO ARMY BEAT NAVY!!”
O’Hara, who does her club swimming with Nation’s Capital Swim Club, excels in freestyle, backstroke and IM. She competed at NCSA Spring Championships in March after a sixth-place finish in the 400 IM at the Potomac Valley Open Championships the week prior. She earned five best times at the Katie Ledecky Invitational in December where her highest finish was a seventh place showing in the 200 back.
Her best times include:
- 500 free – 4:59.88
- 1000 free – 10:14.87
- 200 back – 2:01.85
- 200 IM – 2:05.82
- 400 IM – 4:29.37
Currently a junior at Bishop O’Connell High School, O’Hara placed fifth in the 500 free and seventh in the 200 IM at the 2026 VISAA State Championships after earning silver in both of those events at the WCAC Championship. She finished third in the 200 IM and fourth in the 500 free at the National Catholic High School Championships, too.
The Black Knights are coming off a second-place finish at the 2026 Patriot League Championships where they produced seven All-Patriot League selections and the Women’s Swimmer of the Meet in Angie McKane. Army set seven program records and six meet records at the conference championship.
