World Junior Champion Audrey Derivaux Commits to Texas
The University of Texas women’s recruiting class for 2027 just got a lot stronger. World junior champion Audrey Derivaux announced her commitment to the Longhorns Monday with an announcement on social media.
“I am honored to announce my verbal commitment to advance my academic and swimming career at the University of Texas. Thank you to Coach Carol (Capitani), Coach Mitch (Dalton), and the entire Texas coaching staff for giving me this opportunity. I would also like to thank my family, especially my mom and dad, for supporting me throughout my entire swimming career. Finally, I thank the lord for guiding me through this process. I am excited for this next chapter and I can’t wait to see what it brings. Hook ‘Em,” Derivaux said.
Derivaux is from Haddonfield, N.J., and member of the Jersey Wahoos club, and she won four world junior titles this year in Otepeni, including three individual golds. She won the 200 IM (2:10.58), 200 butterfly (2:07.57) and 200 backstroke (2:06.99) in a meet record. She added a relay gold, swimming the butterfly leg of the gold medal-winning 400 medley relay (3:59.85).
At age 14, Derivaux was a finalist in the 400 IM final at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials in Indianapolis. She is third-fastest swimmer in history in the 400 IM for the 15-16 age group, and she owns three National Age Group: short course yards records in the 200 fly (1:54.33) and 200 IM (1:55.73) for the 13-14 age group and the long course 100 fly (1:01.41) for 11-12 swimmers.
She is still two years away from racing at the NCAA Championships, but Derivaux already owns best times quick enough to score big points at the NCAA Championships. Her best times in the 200 fly (1:52.78) and 400 IM (4:03.31) would have placed her among the top-eight swimmers at last year’s national meet while her times in the 200 back (1:50.91) and 200 IM (1:55.24) would have been top-16-worthy in 2025. It would be no surprise if Derivaux manages to lower those times even further this season and next before she arrives in Austin.
