University of Delaware Hires Peri Farling as Assistant Coach
The University of Delaware announced the hiring of Peri Farling as an assistant swim coach last week. She joins the staff of head coach Pablo Marmolejo.
Farling spent the 2024-25 season as an assistant coach at Division III Dickinson College. The men’s and women’s teams went a combined 13-6 in dual meets in her single season in Carlisle. Both teams finished fourth in the Centennial Conference Championships, their best results since 2020.
“I’m so excited to join Delaware swimming and diving,” Farling said in a press release. “It’s an honor to be part of such a strong program and have the opportunity to work with such a talented group of student-athletes and staff. I can’t wait to get started.”
Farling swam at Old Dominion, which will be joining the Atlantic Sun alongside Delaware for women’s swimming this year. She was a backstroker and freestyler with the Monarchs, coached by current Delaware assistant Ross Glegg.
A native of Delaware, she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport management in 2023 and earned a master’s in sports management the following year. She began coaching as an intern at Mantua Swim Club during college, overseeing age-groupers. Post-graduation, she worked as a graduate assistant in student academic services for ODU’s cheer and dance teams.
“I am very excited to welcome Peri to our Blue Hen family,” Marmolejo said. “She will help us to enhance the Blue Hen experience for our student-athletes and future Blue Hens. Her passion for the holistic development of our student-athletes will be invaluable to our program, and her experience will be a great asset to our staff and team.”
