UIndy’s Jeremias Pock Sets NCAA Division II Record in 100 Breast
University of Indianapolis junior Jeremias Pock set the NCAA Division II record in the men’s 100 breaststroke Friday at its conference championships.
Pock went 51.58 in the 100 breast at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships at Evansville’s Deaconess Aquatic Center. That takes down the mark set in 2015 by Nova Southeastern’s Anton Lobanov.
Pock had set his best time of 52.08 seconds at the GLVC meet last year. He was the second seed going into the NCAA Division II Championships last year, behind teammate Brayden Cole. They tied at 52.58 in prelims at NCAAs last year, then the fifth-year senior Cole went 51.84 in the final to win the NCAA title. Pock was third in 52.34.
Cole’s time was the UIndy program record, with Pock’s 52.08 second.
In his first NCAAs last year, Pock finished second in the 200 individual medley and second in the 200 breast. He won the 400 IM and swam on all three UIndy freestyle relays, accumulating seven All-American certificates. Pock is a native of Germany, following in the footsteps of fellow D2 standout by way of Germany Cedric Buessing.
Pock has had a memorable GLVC meet. He helped the Greyhounds open the meet Wednesday by winning the 200 free relay. He set the school and conference record in the 200 IM at 1:43.63, the fastest time in the nation, on Wednesday. He was 1:44.26 at NCAAs last year as the runner-up.
On Thursday, he downed the pool and meet records held by Buessing by going 3:43.80 in the 400 IM. (The Olympian’s program mark is 3:40.23 in the 400 IM.) Pock also helped the Greyhounds 400 free relay go 3:07.90, a conference and program record that stands tops in Division II this season.
