The Texas high school girls state swimming and diving meet has been postponed because of the historic winter storm sweeping across the country, the University Interscholastic League (UIL) announced.

The severe winter weather has knocked out power in parts of Texas, closed school districts, and is wreaking havoc across the Southern states not used to this type of winter severity. The Dallas Morning News reported more than 3 million Texans have been without power.

The University Interscholastic League (UIL), the governing body of high school sports in Texas, announced the girls state swimming and diving meet has been postponed until Monday and Tuesday.

The girls meet was originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday at the Bill Walker Pool and Josh Davis Natatorium in San Antonio. It will still be at the same venue, beginning Monday.

The boys state meet will still be held Feb. 26-27, as scheduled.

The UIL said that all tickets that were purchased for the original meet dates will be valid for admission. Tickets purchased for Friday will be good for Monday and tickets purchased for Saturday will be good for Tuesday.
