Texas A&M Swims Past Houston Behind Three Wins from Ava Whitaker

The Texas A&M women’s swimming and diving team defeated Houston 166-133 in an instate showdown on Thursday, Oct. 30.

It was a women’s dual meet.

The Aggies started the meet with a win in the 400-yard medley relay. Kaitlyn Owens, Ella McQuinn, Ava Whitaker and Eloise Williamson won the race in 2:46.35.

Owens won the 100 backstroke in 53.29 and 50 freestyle (23.09). Whitaker claimed victory in the 200 butterfly (1:55.01), the 100 fly (52.55) and the 100 IM (55.47).

Texas A&M freestyler Katie Walker won the 200 freestyle in 1:49.20. Macy Lewis won the 200 backstroke (1:56.83).

Owens, McQuinn, Williamson and Reagan Sherrard won the 200 free relay (1:31.74) to close the meet.

Texas A&M diver Bridget Foster won the 3-meter event with a score of 331.80. Julie Moons won 1-meter (292.65).

Houston’s Emma Overall won the 1000 free in 9:59.16, going 1-2 with Mariana Cote (9:59.45). Evelyn Entrekin won the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.50. Flo Peter won the 200 breaststroke (2:12.20). Elizabeth Benoit won the 500 freestyle (4:51.71).

Liya Goupil won the 100 freestyle (50.19) over Texas A&M sprinter McQuinn (50.25) for the Cougars as Houston claimed several races to make the meet close throughout.
