Swim Across America to Host Swim at Daytona International Speedway

Swim Across America will host a swim benefit at Daytona International Speedway’s Lake Lloyd on December 7.

The swim will include a one-mile swim or a 100-meter Dolphin Dash, with all proceeds from the event benefitting Swim Across America’s fundraising efforts for cancer research. It is partnering with CLASH Endurance and its philanthropic partner, the NASCAR Foundation, to benefit Swim Across America’s pediatric cancer grants.

“Swim Across America, CLASH Endurance and The NASCAR Foundation joining together makes so much sense as The NASCAR Foundation helps so many kids who are battling cancer,” CEO Rob Butcher said in a press release. “To have a Swim Across America charity event in Daytona on the CLASH Endurance Family Weekend means we will make even bigger strides together in the fight against cancer.”

The event will include hundreds of swimmers and volunteers. Swimming the one-mile course will require at least $400 raised ($200 for swimmers under age 18), while the Dolphin Dash has a $50 registration fee and no fundraising minimum. The event will take place in Lake Lloyd, the 29-acre body of water at the infield of the 2.5-mile track. Sign-up is available here.

The swim will be part of CLASH Endurance’s week of programing at the Speedway. It includes a Jingle Jog 5K, children’s triathlon, duathlon, aquabike, triathlons, Test Track and Redline Relay, with Florida’s Magic of Lights holiday display included.

“We are proud to collaborate with Swim Across America that continues to make a lasting impact in the cancer community,” CLASH Endurance CEO Bill Christy said. “This is a cause that has touched all our lives and we are honored to further support the fight at one of our flagship event weekends.”

“We are excited to be a part of the new Swim Across America swims during the CLASH Endurance weekend at Daytona International Speedway,” NASCAR Foundation vice president and executive director Nicole Krieger said. “We truly appreciate the many years of support from our friends at CLASH and it is a privilege to team up again to help improve the health and well-being of kids across the country and in our race communities.”

“We have swum in some incredible venues and Daytona International Speedway is certainly one of the most iconic,” Olympian and Swim Across America Ambassador Rowdy Gaines said. “To have a Swim Across America charity swim in Daytona is going to be extra special – I will definitely be there!”
