Still Grinding: The 30-Something Swimmers Ranked Among the Top-20 in the World

There was a time when 30-something athletes were an anomaly in the pool. And while they are still not the norm, plenty of veterans have continued to flourish in the sport. Leading the way is Australian Cam McEvoy, the reigning Olympic and world champion in the 50-meter freestyle. McEvoy was a teen prodigy, but in his later years, he has relied on innovative training to remain a force.

Many veterans have followed McEvoy’s approach, fine-tuning their training to fit what their bodies can handle. Here is a glance at the 30-something swimmers who are ranked in the top-20 in the world during the 2025 season.
