Seven New Olympic Trials Cuts On Richmond Sectionals Day Three

On day three of the Richmond Speedo Sectional Championships the men’s and women’s 200 butterfly, 50 free, 200 breaststroke, 100 back and 400 free were swam.

In the women’s 200 fly, Poseidon Swimming’s Molly Sheffield won the event in the time of 2:17.93. Tide Swimming’s Shelby Raber took silver with a 2:18.15 and in a close third place was Nicole Fye of Fish with a 2:18.53.

David Dixon of Nova went a 2:02.11 to get gold in the men’s 200 fly. Delaware Swim Team’s Jacob Johnson came in second place with a 2:03.47 and Arthur Markley of Lancaster Aquatics went a 2:05.81 for the bronze.

Poseidon Swimming’s Casey Fanz, won the women’s 50 free. She clocked in at a 26.10 for the gold and an Olympic trials cut. Machine Aquatics’ Suzanne Dolan came in second place with a 26.42 and finishing in a close third was Thuymi Dinh of Upper Maine Line YMCA with a 26.47.

With a 23.49 Ryan Dunne, unattached, out touched Justin Rich in the men’s 50 free for the gold. Rich touched the wall one one hundredth behind with a 23.50 for second place and the bronze went to Ryan Baker of Arlington Aquatics with a 23.91.

In the women’s 200 breast, Occoquan Swimming’s Mary Tansill won the event in a 2:35.65. Olivia Paoletti from Delaware Swim Team took the silver with a 2:36.094 and Laura Barakey of Tide Swimming came in third place (2:38.60).

Brendan McHugh, of Greater Philadelphia Aquatics, won the men’s 200 breast with a 2:18.68. Delaware’s Matthew Otto touched the wall second with a 2:19.13 and in the time of 2:22.57 Eric Fuhs of Tide Swimming, took the bronze.

It was a close women’s 100 backstroke final, with the top six times all within a second of each other and the top two swimmers with Olympic trials cuts. Hannah Gouger of Loyola Blakefield, took gold in the event with a 1:03.07. Callie Dickinson of Tide Swimming was second (1:03.10) and Hannah Lindsey of All Star Aquatics, came in third place (1:03.70).

The top two men qualified for Olympic trials in the men’s 100 backstroke. James Wilson of Lancaster Aquatics won the event with a 56.72 and Upper Dublin Aquatic’s Alessandro Boratto took the silver with a 56.81. Clark Beach, of Quest Swimming was third with a 57.82.

In the women’s 400 free, Fish’s Madelyn Donohoe took gold with a 4:16.15, which is an Olympic trials cut. Amanda Nunan who was second also got an Olympic trials cut with a 4:16.58. Michelle Owens of Fish went a 4:22.50 for the bronze.

Jake Sannem of Upper Dublin, went a 4:01.71 to win the men’s 400 free. Zachary Washart of Greater Philadelphia, touched the wall second with a 4:05.79 and finishing third was Matthew Daniel of Five Star Swim Team with a 4:06.11.
