Swimming World presents the video series, the Ross Report. It is a series where our head video producer Andy Ross will travel around the country to tell the stories of the athletes you don’t know much about.
This week’s episode focuses on the University of Louisville Swimming and Diving program. The Cardinals have become one of the most consistent teams this decade. Louisville put three swimmers on the United States World Championships team that will compete in Gwangju in a couple weeks. Kelsi Dahlia, Mallory Comerford and Zach Harting have helped build Louisville to become one of the best and most consistent swimming and diving teams in the nation.
Dahlia helped build Louisville into a consistent top ten team on the women’s side when she helped the Cardinals place sixth in 2015 and eighth in 2016 at NCAAs. Comerford and Harting built on that momentum as the men’s and women’s teams placed in the top five for the first time in the same season. The women finished in fourth while the men were fifth as it was the highest either program had ever placed.
Dahlia was also able to help Comerford in her senior year while Comerford was a freshmen. The two have really fed off each other and it led to Comerford getting on the 2017 World Championships team as well four NCAA titles in her career.
The Louisville swimming and diving program has been on the rise the last few years and have not shown signs of slowing down.
