Rio Olympics 50 Free Champion Pernille Blume Expecting First Child
Pernille Blume is expecting her first child 10 years after winning the 50 free at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
The Dane revealed the happy news on social media, saying: “Ten years ago I reached a big milestone in my life in becoming Olympic Champion 🦋 Now ten years later, it’s time for another big milestone 🥹
We can’t wait to meet you little one 👼🏼🤍
What a dream 🪽”
She joked: “Swipe for last slide: face after winning the Olympics 😱 same facial expression when I found out I was pregnant 🤣😍”
Then 22, Blume sped to the dash title in 24.07, 0.02 ahead of Simone Manuel of the USA (24.09) and Belarus’ Aliaksandra Herisamenia (24.11). She also anchored the Danish women’s quartet to bronze in the medley relay in what was then a European record of 3:55.01.
