A pair of world records were set on night two at the 2015 Duel in the Pool, and USA Swimming has uploaded the videos to YouTube.  To see ALL race videos from the meet, click on the link entitled “RACE VIDEOS” to the right.

Matt Grevers 100 Back World Record:

USA’s Matt Grevers clipped the world record in the men’s 100-meter back as he unified one of the pesky unratified American records at the 2015 Duel in the Pool.

Grevers blasted his way to a smoking time of 48.92.  That swim broke the world record of 48.94 set by American Nick Thoman back in 2009.

That time, however, did not stand as the American record as USA Swimming had banned techsuits earlier than the rest of the world.  Thoman posted that world mark in a techsuit.

Last night, Grevers took down Peter Marshall’s American record of 49.64, but wiped out the inconsistencies with his 48.92 today.

Grevers split the race 23.56, 48.92 (25.36).

Euro’s Arkady Vyatchanin took second in 50.37 with USA’s Eugene Godsoe earning third in 51.08.  Euro’s Pavel Sankovich (51.40) also swam.

Ranomi Kromowidjojo’s 50 Free World Record:

Europe finally battled back from a whitewash as Euro’s Ranomi Kromowidjojo tied her own world record in the women’s 50-meter free at the 2015 Duel in the Pool.

Kromowidjojo clocked a time of 23.24 to tie her previous world record from 2013.  Euro’s Jeanette Ottesen placed second in 23.49 to vault to seventh all time in the event’s history.

USA’s Lia Neal finished third with a time of 23.95, while Euro’s Aliaksandra Herasimenia took fourth in 23.98.

USA’s Simone Manuel (24.07) and Margo Geer (24.67) comprised the rest of the heat.
