Preview: SwimmerJoe Show with Olympic Champion Ryan Murphy
Olympic Champion and World Record Holder Ryan Murphy will join hosts Joe Auer and Chris Emig on the SwimmerJoe Show on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 6:00 pm EST. The live event can be streamed on both the Swimming World and International Swimming Hall of Fame Facebook pages. Replays will also be available on Spotify and Amazon’s Alexa.
Murphy claimed three gold medals at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games by winning both the 100- and 200-meter Backstrokes as well as the 4×100 Medley Relay with American teammates Cody Miller, Michael Phelps and Nathan Adrian. In the latter, he set the World Record in the 100 with an opening split of 51.85.
Most recently, Murphy picked up four more international medals at the 2017 FINA World Championships and six at the 2019 Short Course World Championships in Hangzhou. Three of these were gold in the 100 Backstroke and medley relays.
Prior to his international prowess, Murphy made a name for himself on the collegiate stage for California by sweeping the backstroke events four years in a row at the NCAA Championships. He was the fourth man ever to sweep both stroke events four years in a row.
