Poll: What New Event Would You Most Like to See Leon Marchand Attack? (VOTE HERE!)

Over the past several years, fans of the sport have been treated to the talent of Leon Marchand. The Frenchman has established himself as future Hall of Famer, with four Olympic titles earned at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Marchand is the world-record holder in the 200-meter individual medley and the 4oo IM, and he ranks as the No. 2 performer in history in the 200 butterfly and 200 breaststroke.

While the aforementioned events have been the focus for Marchand in international competition, the 23-year-old has excelled in several other disciplines. While he has delivered a sub-1:45 split in the 200 freestyle, he owns a best mark of 3:44.70 in the 400 freestyle. Meanwhile, he has been as fast as 1:57.14 in the 200 backstroke, 51.20 in the 100 butterfly and 59.06 in the 100 breaststroke.

Marchand and coach Bob Bowman will determine what schedule is adopted at this summer’s European Championships, which will serve as Marchand’s main competition for 2026. Could Marchand pursue a different event schedule this summer? Down the road, we’ll find out.
