Olympic Champions Among 2024 ISHOF Inductees — Watch Full Induction Ceremony

The International Swimming Hall of Fame (ISHOF) held its annual induction ceremony this weekend in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., enshrining a series of accomplished aquatic performers and contributors. The list included three individual Olympic gold medalists along with 12 other individuals from across all aquatic disciplines.

Dana Vollmer of the United States was named to the Hall of Fame after an incredible swimming career in which she qualified for three Olympic teams and won gold in the 100 butterfly at the 2016 Olympics, setting a world record in the process. On the men’s side, the gold medalists entering the Hall of Fame are Hungary’s Daniel Gyurta, the 2012 Olympic champion in the 200 breaststroke, and Sweden’s Lars Frolander, the 2000 champion in the 100 fly.

In addition, the legendary U.S. women’s 400 freestyle relay team of Shirley Babashoff, Wendy Boglioli, Kim Peyton and Jill Sterkel earned recognition. At the 1976 Olympics, this group upset favored East Germany for gold.

Divers Alexandre Despatie (Canada) and Yulia Pakhalina (Russia) were honored, along with artistic swimmer Virginie Dedieu (France), water polo players Carmela Allucci (Italy) and Vladimir Akimov (Soviet Union), coach Dennis Pursley, contributor Dale Neuburger and gold medallion award winner Alex Blavatnik.
