NC State won their second-consecutive and 26th overall ACC title at the 2016 Men’s ACC Swimming Championships in Greensboro. The Wolfpack finished with 1402 points, seven individual titles, and four relay wins.

NC State dominated from the beginning and finished with a strong final night of competition, sweeping an event for the second time this weekend. Ryan Held (41.69), Simonas Bilis (42.16), and Soeren Dahl (42.85) went 1-2-3 in the 100 free, and the same swimmers took the top three spots in the 200 free on Friday.

Wolfpack senior Christian McCurdy won the 200 fly in a new conference, meet, and pool record time of 1:41.42. Sophomore Anton Ipsen won his second-straight ACC title in the 1650 with a time of 14:44.96 and teammate Adam Linker took second in 14:51.47.

The Wolfpack won four of the five relays this weekend, setting a new pool record in each and breaking the meet record in three. Their 200 medley relay also set a new ACC conference record.

Virginia Tech’s Brandon Fiala was named the ACC Most Valuable Swimmer of the Meet for his efforts. The Hokie junior won the 200 IM for the second-straight year and dominated the 200 breast en route to setting a new pool and meet record. He finished second in the 100 breast, but set a new meet and pool record in the morning.

Georgia Tech’s Brad Homza was awarded the ACC Most Valuable Male Diver of the Meet last weekend as men’s diving competed at the Women’s ACC Championships. The junior won the platform, placed fourth on the 1m, and took sixth on the 3m.
