Navy Men Score Milestone Win over LSU; Tigers Women Sweep
The United States Naval Academy’s men’s swimming and diving team scored a historic win over LSU on Friday at Lejeune Hall in Annapolis.
The Midshipmen knocked off the 14th-ranked Tigers, 165.5-132.5. It’s the program’s first win against a current member of the Southeastern Conference (previously 0-5). It also marks the highest-ranked program that Navy has defeated in the two decades of the CSCAA dual meet poll, far surpassing a win over No. 23 Penn State on Jan. 12, 2012.
Navy also bested Loyola in the tri-meet. The LSU women, who entered the meet ranked 17th nationally, coasted to wins over Navy and Loyola.

Navy sealed the win with a late 1-2 finish in the 200 individual medley. Coleman Yates won in 1:49.64, ahead of teammate Jaiden Sreenivasan’s 1:50.87. It was the third such finish of the day. Dean Jones won the 200 fly in 1:47.28, with Andre Brooks taking second by .01 seconds. Martin Perecinsky won the 200 back in 1:46.29 ahead of mate Ben Irwin.
Perecinsky also won the 200 freestyle in 1:35.78. Juan Mora claimed the 100 breaststroke in 54.05. Chase Maier was second in the 500 free and 100 free.
Navy also dominated diving. Luke Ogren won 1-meter with a score of 330.55, with Finnian Gelbach third. Gelbach was third on 3-meter, with teammate James Boardman taking the win in 374.15.
LSU won both relays behind its sprint axis led by Jere Hribar. The Croatian international split 20.01 in butterfly as the Tigers went 1:26.38 to win the 200 medley relay. He split 18.57 on the victorious 200 free relay that went 1:18.61 to dominate.
Hribar clocked in at 19.23 to win the 50 free. His time of 46.26 in the 100 fly won by two seconds. Diggory Dillingham anchored both relays and was third in the 50.
Nikola Simic swept the distance events, going 9:09.90 in the 1,000 free and 4:23.82 in the 500. Andres Da Silva won the 100 free in 44.34 and lead off the winning 200 free relay. Volodymyr Lisovets won the 200 breast in 2:00.06 – a 1-2 with teammate Guilherme Camossato – finished second in the 100 beast and was on the winning medley relay.
Loyola got a win via Joe Hayburn, who went 47.59 in the 100 back. He was third in the 200 back.
LSU’s women’s team dominated with wins in 15 of 16 races, including all 14 swimming races and four 1-2-3 sweeps. Zoe Carlos-Broc and Nicole Santuliana won two individual races each.
Santuliana won the 200 fly in 2:07.74, edging Loyola’s Riley Fried by .25 seconds. She also won the 500 free in 4:53.48.
Carlos-Broc went 54.49 to win the 100 back by more than a second. She claimed the 200 IM in 2:01.91. The French international was also second in the 100 fly and led off the winning 200 medley relay.
Joining her on that quartet was Martina Bukvic, who won the 100 breast in 1:02.86, edging teammate Ella Smoker by .06. Smoker won the 200 breast. Avery Littlefield and Nina Stanisavljevic were on both winning relays. Littlefield won the 50 free in 22.90 ahead of Stanisavljevic, who went on to win the 100 free in 50.37. Second in that race was 200 free winner Giovana Medeiros.
The lone non-LSU win came from Claire Ellish of Navy, who scored 257.75 on 1-meter diving.
