NAG Relay Record Holder Drew Ploof Gives Verbal to Missouri

NEW COMMIT: The University of Missouri has picked up a new verbal commitment for the 2025-26 season and beyond, this time from U.S. Open qualifier Drew Ploof of Eden Prairie, Minnesota.

He will join Jaedon Carter as a member of the Tigers’ Class of 2029.

He told Swimming World:

“I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Missouri! I am looking forward to further pursue my academic and athletic career in Colombia. Thank you to all the coaches, teammates, and family who have helped me get to this point. Finally, thank you to Coach Grevers and the rest of the Mizzou coaching staff for giving me this opportunity to further my swimming career with the Tigers!”

A butterflyer, Ploof is a National Age Group record holder on relays: the boys’ 13-14 4x100m free relay from 2021 and the boys’ 15-18 4x100m medley relay from 2023.

Training year-round with Aquajets Swim Team, Ploof placed 18th in the 200 fly and 19th in the 100 fly at NCSA Spring Championships. He finished eighth in both the 100m fly and 200m fly at Des Moines Sectionals last summer.

His best times include:

  • 100 fly – 48.60
  • 200 fly – 1:47.99
  • 100m fly – 54.95
  • 200m fly – 2:04.59

A rising senior at Eden Prairie High School, Ploof took second in the 100 fly and fourth in the 200 free at the 2023 Minnesota Class AA State Championships. He raced to sixth in the 100 fly as a freshman at the state meet.
