Moesha Johnson Adds 3k Sweep to Overall Crown; Oliver Klemet Wins Men’s Title
Moesha Johnson underlined her domination of women’s open water swimming when she added a sweep of the 3k knockout sprints to her overall 10k crown in Setubal, Portugal.
Johnson won the overall title on Saturday after winning all four races of the Open Water World Cup and returned to the Portuguese waters with a 100 per cent record in the 3k sprints.
Bettina Fabian headed the heats before the Australian led the way in the semis and then clinched her second crown in as many days with a 4:38.20 victory in the final. Fabian was second in 4:43.00 with Ichika Kajimoto third in 4:43.80.
It means the Australian has won every women’s individual event on the World Cup tour.
Oliver Klemet led through the heats and semis in the men’s event before taking the title in 4:15.30 ahead of Gregorio Paltrinieri (4:19.50) and Marc-Antoine Olivier (4:22.50). David Betlehem – who seized the overall 10k title in a dramatic finale on Saturday – was fourth in 4:22.90.
