Minnetonka Boys Break Week Old 200 Medley Relay National HS Record

Swimming at the 2017 Minnesota Boys AA state swimming championships on Saturday the team from Minnetonka set the National Public High School record in the 200 medley relay.

The team of Erik Gessner, Corey Lau, John Shelstad and Sam Schilling combined for a time of 1:29.20. That time was a few tenths faster than the 1:29.44 swum by Zionsville at last weekend’s Indiana Boys High School State Championships. Zionsville’s team was Tyler HarmonBrock BrownAndrew Schuler, and Jack Franzman.

The big difference maker was in Lau’s breaststroke split, seven tenths faster than Zionsville clocked last weekend.

    I know exactly where this high school is I lived a mile from Minnetonka HS but I attended Hopkins HS so Minnetonka was our biggest rival but this is great national attention for Minnetonka

      The interesting part is that made them exactly tied to the 100th after the first 2 legs. Then both relays then had blazing final 2 legs.

    Brown’s split is incorrect also it was 25.18 so Tonka passed them on Fly leg.
