Minnesota Adds Logan Redondo to Coaching Staff
The University of Minnesota on Tuesday announced the hiring of alumnus Logan Redondo as an assistant coach.
Redondo spent last season as the director of professional performances and data analysis at the University of Virginia. He was in charge of developed athlete performance profiling programs. He also assisted the coaching staff with recruiting evaluations and projecting athlete performance.
“We are so excited to welcome Logan back to Minnesota as a Coach of the Gophers!,” Minnesota Director of Swimming and Diving Kelly Kremer said in a press release. “Our student athletes will benefit from his experiences leading the Nadadores and working with UVA. Logan has done an outstanding job everywhere he’s been, and we are looking forward to the positive impact he will have on Minnesota Swimming and Diving!”
Redondo swam at Minnesota, graduating in 2017. He qualified for NCAAs there and twice swam at U.S. Olympic Trials, finishing 18th in the 1500 freestyle at Trials in 2016. He received a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in sport psychology.
“I am so grateful for the opportunity to return to the University of Minnesota and continue building upon its historic legacy, now as a coach,” Redondo said. “I want to thank the staff at the University of Virginia and Cavalier Aquatics, as I would not have this opportunity without their support, as well as Coach Kelly Kremer and the Gopher staff for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. The future is incredibly bright in Minneapolis, and I cannot wait to get to work and chase the very best version of ourselves together as a TEAM for the past, present, and future of Minnesota Swimming & Diving. Go Gophers!”
Redondo swam at Mission Viejo Nadadores, then served as the decorated club’s head senior coach for four years. He coached seven U.S. Nationals qualifiers, four U.S. Junior National Teamers, three Olympic Trials qualifiers and members of the senior national teams of the U.S., Philippines and Venezuela.
