Millie Conner Adds Another Southern Zone High-Point Title
Millie Conner Adds Another Southern Zone High-Point Title
Make it back-to-back Southern Zone High-Point championships for South Carolina age-group standout Millie Conner. One year after claiming the 12-and-under award, Conner recently captured the 14-and-under High-Point title, despite being just 13 years old. A standout for the Team Greenville Swim Team, where she’s coached by Karl Kozicki, Conner advanced to the finals in each of her events.
More, Conner was one of only five 13-year-olds to race this summer at the National Club Swimming Association Championships. At that meet, the Eastside High School student earned evening swims in three of her four events. Her top performance at the meet was a 28.26 clocking in the 50-meter butterfly, which was a Junior Nationals qualifying mark and Futures cut. The time fell just .07 shy of qualifying for the U.S. Open.
Connor excelled across multiple events during the summer, posting several top-10 performances within the 13-year-old age group. Between various meets, she recorded the following long-course times:
- 50 Freestyle – 27.50
- 50 Backstroke – 30.77
- 50 Butterfly – 28.26
- 100 Freestyle – 1:00.04
- 100 Backstroke – 1:06.57
- 200 Backstroke – 2:23.75
- 100 Butterfly – 1:04.70
- 200 Butterfly – 2:22.67
Conner opted to competes at NCSAs instead of the South Carolina Age Group Championships, which she dominated in previous years. The decision was made to allow Conner to race against strong competition. Next year, Connor is looking to race at Junior Nationals, making the step up from Southern Zones.
