Mariah Denigan, Ivan Puskovitch Wrap Up Sweeps at U.S. Open Water Championships

The final day of the United States Open Water Championships looked much like the first two days, as Mariah Denigan and Ivan Puskovitch picked up victories in Sarasota, Florida. Already the winners of the 10k and 3k knockout events, Denigan and Puskovitch added 5k titles to their meets during Saturday’s action.

In the women’s race, Denigan took a little more than an hour to cover her five kilometers. The Team USA veteran touched at the finish in 1:00:46, which was good for a seven-second triumph over Ashley Twichell. Another second back in third place was Mila Nikanorov. Denigan will now shift her focus to World Cup action and nailing down a berth to represent the United States at this summer’s Pan Pacific Championships in Irvine, California.

Fourth and fifth place in the women’s race went to Brooke Travis and Caroline Riggs.

Puskovitch completed his triple by winning the 5k in 56:02, with second place going to Dylan Gravley in 56:10. Gravley was also the runnerup to Puskovitch in the opening 10k event. The third-place finisher was Gabriel Manteufel, who clocked in at 56:14. Alexander Lyubavskiy and Colin Jacobs rounded out the top five.
