Lindsay Vrooman, Zane Grothe Have Big Swims At Oklahoma Elite Pro-Am

The 2015 Oklahoma Elite Pro-Am kicked off in Edmond, Oklahoma on Dec. 17. The first night of the four day meet featured two relays and the 1000-yard freestyle.

The meet started with the women’s 200-yard medley relay. Razorback Aquatic Club won the event with a time of 1:47.53. The team consisted of backstroker Luciana Thomas, breaststroke Olivia Keith, butterflier Caroline Stelte and freestyler Martina Thomas.

American Energy Swim Club finished second in the event with a time of 1:52.71. The team was made up of backstroker Cheyenne Parks, breaststroker Hanna Newby, butterflier Riley Powelson and freestyler Megen Oliphant. North Central Aquatics rounded out the top three with a time of 1:54.28.

American Energy Swim Club took the men’s event with a time of 1:36.11. The team of backstroker Josh Davis, breaststroker Quinn Bunnag, butterlier Joseph Short and freestyler Luke Davis won by just over a tenth of a second.

Northwest Arkansas Aquatics finished in second, posting a time of 1:36.24. Razorback Aquatic Club finished third.

The first individual event of the meet was the 1000-yard freestyle. Badger Swim Club’s Lindsay Vrooman won the women’s event with a time of 9:30.19. Second place finisher Hayley Pike finished over 30 seconds later, and Taylor Pike rounded out the top three.

In the men’s event, Badger Swim Club’s Zane Grothe took home the title. He posted a time of 8:48.01. Bryson Horn finished in second with a time of 10:04.21.

The evening concluded with the 800-yard freestyle relays.

Razorback Aquatic Club won the women’s race, posting a time of 7:35.36. The team consisted Martina Thomas, Madeline Marks, Luciana Thomas and Taylor Pike. The Aquakids finished second and Bison Aquatic Club came in third.

American Energy Swim took the men’s title. The team of Luke Davis, Grant Denison, Short and Josh Davis finished in 7:15.59. The Aquakids were second and Bison Aquatic Club touched third.

Tomorrow’s preliminaries begin at 8:30 a.m.
