The World Aquatics Open Water Swimming World Cup took place over the weekend in Golfo Aranci with Kristof Rasovsky and Leonie Beck claiming the men’s and women’s 10km titles.

Olympic silver medallist Rasovsky won in 1:47:17.6 over Italy’s Domenico Acerenza (1:47:20.1) and Germany’s Oliver Klemet (1:47:20.5).

The pacing was much quicker than the previous race in Somabay, Egypt, where the the winning time was 1:52, as the 17-degree water temperatures played a role in the five-minute time difference with 59 men faster in Golfo Aranci than the time that won two weeks ago.

Beck went from 58th to first to claim her second straight World Cup win having been well off the pace in Sardinia.

The German moved from 58th at the end of the first lap to first after the penultimate circuit to win in 1:56:17.4.

Ginevra Taddeuci (1:56.18.6) and Giulia Gabbrielleschi (1:56:20.5) finished second and third.

Germany won the mixed 4×1500 in 1:04.57.70, 0.90 ahead of Italy with France taking third.

The German quartet of Lea Boy, Beck, Klemet and Rob Muffels won in a sprint finish, out-touching the Italian team of Rachele Bruni, Barbara Possobon, Marcello Guidi and Ivan Giovannoni.
