Landon Marzullo Joins Utah as Head Diving Coach

Utah on Monday hired Landon Marzullo as its head diving coach for the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams. He joins the staff of head coach Jonas Persson.

Marzullo replaces Richard Marschner, who after 16 years with the Utes was hired to lead Tulane’s diving program this week. Marschner was the Big 12 Men’s Diving Coach of the Year in 2025 and 2026.

Marzullo inherits that depth, coming over after five years as the head coach at Nebraska.

“I feel extremely blessed and excited for the opportunity to lead the Utah diving program,” Marzullo said in a press release. “Utah swimming and diving has a phenomenal legacy and I truly believe it’s one of the best programs in the nation. I can’t wait to bring my knowledge and experience to Salt Lake City to help continue building on their success. I want to thank everyone who has been involved in this process, especially Jonas Persson and the entire swim and dive staff. I would also like to wish Richard Marschner the best of luck in his new adventures. Finally, a special thank you to my wife Jennifer and daughter Mia; without their continued support none of this would be possible.”

Marzullo has a decade of experience in the college realm. He began coaching in 2012-13 as a volunteer assistant at Ohio State. He joined UNLV in 2016 and spent three years there, voted Mountain West Coach of the Year in 2019, then spent one season at Wisconsin.

Marzullo coached Abby Baxter to a pair of top-18 finishes at NCAAs last year and a 20th-place result in 2025.

“Landon stood out throughout the entire search process,” Persson said. “He brings a strong technical foundation, great energy on deck and a clear vision for developing divers at a high level. What impressed me most was his ability to connect with our student-athletes and his alignment with how we want to build this program moving forward. I’m confident he will make an immediate impact and help elevate our diving program within the Big 12 and the NCAA.”

Marzullo was the Big Ten Diver of the Year as a freshman at Indiana. He spent two years in Bloomington before transferring to Florida State. In all, he earned 10 All-American honors. He represented the U.S. at the 2011 World University Games, won platform gold at the 2005 Pan Am Junior Championships and performed as a high diver for three years post-graduation.
