Kelly Lennon Joins Louisville As Assistant Coach

On Tuesday, the University of Louisville announced that Kelly Lennon has been hired as an assistant coach.

Lennon most recently spent five seasons on the staff at Army West Point from 2021-26, serving as an assistant coach for three seasons before being promoted to associate head coach in June 2024. She was also the women’s recruiting coordinator for the Black Knights.

“After an extensive national search, we found the perfect person to join our staff in Kelly,” said UofL head coach Arthur Albiero in the team’s press release. “Her energy, personality, and natural ability to relate to athletes and coaches are a great match for our program. She also has a proven track record in recruiting and developing swimmers at the NCAA level and beyond. Kelly will have an immediate positive impact on UofL Swimming, and we are ecstatic to have her join the team!”

During her time at Army, Lennon helped oversee some of the best seasons in program history, most recently helping the team earn its first three women’s NCAA qualifications ever during the 2025-26 season.

The Black Knights also experienced sustained success at the conference level, as both the men’s and women’s teams posted top-three finishes at the Patriot League Championships in each of her five seasons on staff, including a conference title from the men’s team in 2025.

“I’m honored to join the Louisville Swimming & Diving coaching staff coaching staff and be part of the culture of excellence that is synonymous with this program,” said Lennon in the team’s announcement. “I can’t thank Arthur enough for giving me this opportunity to work with him and his incredible staff, who all made me feel at home right away. This is a team that is constantly raising the bar, and I look forward to seeing what we will accomplish together. Go Cards!”

A native of Methuen, Mass., Lennon was a standout swimmer at the University of Vermont from 2014-18 where she served as team captain during her senior year. She earned All-Conference honors three times throughout her career and helped Vermont win the 4×100 free relay at the 2018 America East Championships. For her efforts in the classroom, she was named to the America East Honor Roll as well as the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll. She was also the conference’s nominee for NCAA Woman of the Year in 2018.

Outside of the pool, she was president of Vermont’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and was an America East SAAC representative. Lennon also spearheaded the Rally Around Mental Health initiative to promote student-athlete well-being and won the athletic department’s Jeff Stone Memorial Award, which recognizes an individual who has made exceptional contributions in community service.

Additionally, Lennon was a graduate student at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill from 2019-21 where she was actively involved with UNC Athletics. She worked as the graduate assistant of athletics administration, helped with the event management staff and was a graduate teaching assistant.

Lennon earned bachelor degrees in English and psychology from Vermont in 2018. She received her master’s degree in sport administration from UNC in 2021.
