Joseph Schooling’s Morning Swim Highlights Day 3 Of Texas Invite

Texas showed off its butterfly depth on day three of the Texas Hall of Fame Invitational.

In the morning, Joseph Schooling posted a 44.98, a NCAA ‘A’ time standard. Schooling did not swim in finals, and his teammate Jack Conger brought home the title with a time of 45.19. The Longhorns ended the race with four swimmers under 47 seconds.

The evening started with the 400-yard individual medley. Madisyn Cox brought home the win for the Longhorns with a time of 4:06.55. Texas’ Jonathan Robert earned the victory in the men’s race with a time of 3:44.24.

Arizona’s Annie Ochitwa earned an ‘A’ time standard in the women’s 100-yard butterfly. Ochitwa posted a time of 51.35. She won the race by over a second.

Southern California’s Chelsea Chenault did not disappoint in the 200-yard freestyle. Chenault won the race with a time of 1:44.62, over a second ahead of Arizona’s Taylor Schick.

Coming off of a huge swim in last night’s 500-yard freestyle, Clark Smith won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:33.36. He was only two-hundredths of a second ahead of teammate Townley Haas.

Southern California’s Kirsten Vose brought home the women’s 100-yard breaststroke title with a time of 59.58. Andrew Wilson won the men’s event with a time of 52.61. Wilson was representing Longhorn Aquatics.

Hannah Weiss won the 100-yard backstroke for Southern California with a time of 52.46. Brigham Young’s Jake Taylor took the men’s title with a 45.83.

Arizona earned an ‘A’ time standard in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:37.04. The team consisted of backstroker Ochitwa, breaststroker Sara Borendame, butterflier Mackenzie Rumrill and Schick, who swam freestyle. The Wildcats finished over a second ahead of second place Texas.

The Longhorns brought home the men’s 200-yard medley relay title with a time of 1:25.73. The team consisted of backstroker John Shebat, breaststroker John Murray, butterflier Conger and freestyler Brett Ringgold.
