Jeremias Pock Shatters Another NCAA Division II Record; UIndy Standout Stars in 200 Breaststroke
As an encore to his NCAA Division II record in the 100-yard breaststroke, the University of Indianapolis’ Jeremias Pock set a D-II standard in the 200 breaststroke as the Great Lakes Valley Conferences Championships wrapped up on Saturday night. A sophomore from Germany, Pock fired off a mark of 1:51.26 in the 200 breaststroke, an effort that lowered the previous record of 1:51.71. The old record was set by Nova Southeastern’s Anton Lobanov in 2015.
Pock’s record swim handed him a six-second triumph and came on the heels of a 51.58 outing in the 100 breaststroke, which also broke a Division II record previously held by Lobanov. In the 200 breaststroke, Pock went out in 25.31 and split 53.32 at the midway point of the race. Pock split 28.82 for his third 50 and closed in 29.12. He was also the titlist in the 200 IM during the weekend.
As UIndy captured the team title over Drury, Pock was named the GLVC Male Swimmer of the Meet, hardly a surprise given his record performances. Next month, he’ll chase national titles when the NCAA Division II Championships are held at the Deaconess Aquatic Center in Evansville, Indiana.
