Genevieve Pfeifer and Paul Le Double to Finish Jenks Sectionals

Three new Olympic Trials cuts were earned in the final session of the Speedo Sectionals in Jenks, Oklahoma. Two swimmers won double events Sunday night as Oklahoma Baptist University took the combined team title with 698.5 points. The CSP Tideriders finished second with 681 points while Columbia Swim Club was third with 652.

Laura Galarza earned the Olympic Trials cut in the 50 freestyle, finishing in 26.06. Second place Anna Miller of Rockwood was just a hundredth short of the qualifying time, touching in 26.20. Megan Keil of the Wichita Aqua Shocks finished third in 26.30.

In the men’s splash and dash, the top two swimmers were under the Trials cut. Paul Le led the way in 23.13, with Northland United’s Marcin Glebocki just behind him in 23.19. Mitchell Forde finished third in 23.39.

CSP’s Genevieve Pfeifer claimed another dominant win, tonight in the 800 freestyle, touching in 8:58.71. Rockwood’s Jordan Stout was second in 9:11.49, just out touching CSP’s Alexis Daniels who finished third in 9:11.77.

Pfeifer went on to win the 200 IM with a time of 2:19.74. Splash Club’s Haley Downey finished second in 2:22.41. Karisa Franz of Parkway Swim Club rounded out the podium with her 2:24.75.

Razorback’s Antonio Thomas was well ahead of the field in the 1500 freestyle, finishing in 15:57.28. CSP’s Matthew Hillmer finished second in 16:20.24, while Jack Little of the Jonesboro Jets earned third in 16:24.36.

Bailey Grinter won the 100 backstroke, one hundredth under the Olympic Trials cut the sixteen year old already held. She touched in 1:03.38. Second place went to Haley Hynes of the Kansas City Blazers in 1:03.82. Oklahoma Baptist’s Suzanne Afchain rounded out the top three in 1:04.08.

The top two finishers in the men’s 100 backstroke were under the Olympic Trials standard. Le posted a dominant win in 55.72. Nicholas Alexander of Flyers touched second in 57.10, under the 57.19 standard. Third went to Rockwood’s Jack Dolan. The fifteen year old stopped the clock at 57.58.

Alexander was back in the next event, stopping the clock at 2:05.64 to claim the 200 IM. CSP’s Justin Andrews finished second in 2:08.80. Northwest Arkansas’ Hayden Harlow was third, stopping the clock at 2:09.44.

The CSP Tideriders won the women’s relay again tonight. Pfeifer, Helen Wojdylo, Gabriela Vieira, Melissa Melnick finished in 4:20.01 to take the 400 medley. Parkway’s Madison Brown, Annika Hofer, Karisa Franz, and Kristen Petersen were second in 4:23.69. Third place went to Bettie Logan, Nicole Williams, Brittany Wen, and Kelley Tackett of Columbia Swim Club in 4:24.18.

Oklahoma Baptist took top honors in the men’s 400 medley relay. The B squad of Nicholas Brun, Vitor Da Franca, Marc Sambolin, and Chad Brandon out touched the A team of Felipe Ramirez, Fernando Morillas, Kristijan Stunkovic, and Andre Del Rio 3:52.32 to 3:53.39. Empire Swim Club’s Andrew Iseman, Samuel Drew, Philip Musser, and William Bresette placed third in 3:57.96.
